Since dry food should ideally only be used as a bridge between two wet food meals or as a supplement for outdoor cats, the bowl should be freshened every day or every other day, depending on the temperature and humidity.

As former desert dwellers, cats rely on sufficient water intake through their food. Water sources to be able to drink enough are rare or non-existent in desert-like landscapes. If the food contains too little liquid (as is the case with dry food), the cat does not compensate for this by drinking more water, as this is simply not in keeping with its nature. The result is kidney disease and even death from kidney failure.

No. Wet food is better than dry food.

Dry food is not appropriate for cats and, if fed exclusively, can lead to serious health problems in the long term.

If you want to feed your cat a species-appropriate diet, dry food should at most end up as a treat in the food bowl. Only high-quality canned food or BARF should be in a cat's food bowl.
