A long and thorough bath with lots of foam can do a lot for an acute flea infestation. Wash the fleas out of the fur and maybe even use a comb to help. Depending on the severity of the infestation, this can be a very successful measure. The environment should still be taken into account, as fleas can jump far and quickly.
Fleas detest the smell of various essential oils such as lemon, rosemary, lavender or geranium oil. However, you should only use products that are suitable for cats. Cats are very sensitive to many essential oils.
If the cat allows it, a long bath with a suitable flea shampoo, regular combing with a flea comb, parasite sprays or spot-ons suitable for cats and, above all, a thorough cleaning of the apartment can help. Only a small part of the flea population lives on the animal itself β most fleas live in the environment, which is why the entire apartment and all animals living in the household must always be included in the flea control.
Yes, they can. While each flea has a preference for its host, it can also feed on the blood of other creatures. Cat fleas jump onto both dogs and humans.
