Eggs are laid outside the animal after a blood meal. They prefer dark and damp places, such as those often found in the forest.
The longer the tick stays on the animal, the longer it has the opportunity to transmit pathogens.
Cats can remove some ticks themselves by scratching or biting the bloodsuckers. Therefore, we usually find the remaining ticks in places that are inaccessible to the cat. These include the head, shoulder, chest and neck.
Generally, ticks look for places where they can easily get through the skin. These can be found all over the body, which is why you should always take a good look at your pet when it comes home from a walk.
Ticks transmit diseases and should therefore always be removed as quickly as possible.
