Are your ears on draught?

Horses can also communicate through their ears. But this is not the only reason why you should regularly attend to ear care. Vermin or dirt can also enter the animal via the ears. To care for this important sensory organ, you will find cdVet products for your horse.

The horse's ears do not need to be cleaned regularly, but it may be necessary if there are signs of dirt, excess ear wax or irritation. A visual inspection during general grooming is advisable. If the horse is shaking its ears more, tilting its head or showing signs of discomfort, cleaning may be necessary. However, it is important to do this with caution.

A healthy horse ear shows a clean outer ear without dirt or excess earwax, a normal pink skin color without redness, no unpleasant odor, normal sensitivity to touch and natural hair growth without excessive matting.

When caring for a horse's ears, it is important to regularly check for dirt or excess ear wax and, if necessary, remove it with gentle cleaners specially developed for horse ears, such as our 'Veavet Ear Care Mild'. Make sure to only clean externally and not to injure the ear canal.
