Gastrointestinal problems in dogs can be caused by, for example, ingesting spoiled food or poison, chemicals and other foreign bodies, but also by tumors, stress and food allergies.

A typical position for a dog with a stomach ache is the prayer position. The dog stands on its hind legs and goes into a lying position with its front legs.

Symptoms of stomach problems include vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, stomach pain or flatulence. But changes in behavior (lethargy, irritability, withdrawal) can also indicate an upset stomach.

As a rule, a gastrointestinal illness lasts about 1-3 days. In some cases, however, the illness can last longer, especially if it is a more serious illness or complications arise.

Some herbs, such as sage and licorice root, have a positive and calming effect on the gastrointestinal tract. You can find these and other supporting herbs in our "Stomach Protection" product.
