What should you avoid doing if you have a tick infestation?

If a horse has a tick infestation, do not remove the tick with your fingers or without suitable tools, as this can increase the risk of infection. Avoid applying oil, glue or other substances to the tick, as this can cause the tick to release additional secretions and increase the risk of disease transmission. It is also not recommended to remove the tick by force, as the head can get stuck.
