Most worms always need a development step outside the body in order to spread and therefore do not pose a direct risk of transmission by the cat. However, there are also parasites that can be transmitted directly by the animal. Here, you should follow a few basic hygiene rules to keep the risk low.
If the infestation is minor and the immune system is functioning, nothing usually happens. The body keeps the invader at bay. A small infestation is usually not noticed at all. With a severe infestation, the animals often lose weight, even though they seem to be consuming endless amounts of food. The fur is also often shaggy and dull. Depending on the severity of the infestation, parts of the worms may also be visible in the feces.
